First, Google is hosting Life Magazine's photos from 1750 till today. There is some very, very cool stuff in there and some stuff that was never published before. I lost half a day just clicking through various decades.

Second, 35 photographers give their advice to anyone interested in photography. I know these are photographers but their advice is really universal to anyone who wants to be in a creative field. What I love is that as you read down through the responses there are some universal themes and some contradiction and a lot of "find what works for you and do it." I think they'd all agree that passion has to come first. Everything else comes second.
